About the Course
Owner-assisted annual inspections can be an effective way for aircraft owners to reduce costs and gain a deeper understanding of their aircraft—when done correctly. This course explains how owner-assisted annuals are structured, what the FAA allows owners to participate in, and how to work alongside an A&P/IA without crossing regulatory or safety boundaries.
You’ll learn how to properly prepare your aircraft before the inspection, organize logbooks and documentation, and perform appropriate owner tasks that support efficiency rather than slow the process down. The course also clarifies the IA’s responsibilities, common misconceptions, and situations where an owner-assisted approach may not be appropriate.
The goal is to help owners set realistic expectations, improve communication with their mechanic, and participate in a way that results in a smoother inspection, fewer surprises, and better long-term aircraft care.
